Books are for Everyone

The world of books is changing as e-books and e-book readers are becoming more and more prominent. Some people theorize and debate whether print books will completely die out; others maintain that we will have use for both print and e-books. The one thing everyone can agree on is that the written word isn't going anywhere. Whether you prefer reading on an e-book reader or the feel of a nice hardbound copy of your favorite novel, people are still reading.

Stories connect us and help us escape to other worlds and learn about new things. Some of us prefer reading a novel for pleasure, while others want a non-fiction tome to increase their knowledge. Both find comfort in knowing there will always be something new out there for them to read.

The written word is still one of the most powerful means of communicating information. Our means of transferring information has changed and evolved over time, but reading is consistent. It isn't going to go away. It is one of the most basic life skills that has a huge impact on your life. Not everyone reads for pleasure, but knowing how to read is necessary in daily life. Whether you're reading the menu at a restaurant, road signs, or instructions on the back of a box, you are using this skill constantly.

3 Reasons Adults Should Read

As we age we can lose our pleasure in reading. It may be that reading things for school assignments drove us away from reading for fun, or it may simply be a time issue. Either way books still have a lot to offer. Reading provides you with inexpensive and enjoyable entertainment. Reading is a great way to learn new things and explore new ideas. And reading can be a good stress reliever when life gets out of hand.

I had always been a conscientious and attentive driver, but a streak of bad luck over the course of about seven months made me seem otherwise. I had paid my first two tickets without protesting, but the third was another matter; not only was the officer’s measurement of my speed quite suspect, I thought, but this ticket would put me [...]
